Culture is the invisible thread that connects us, through stories, language, rituals, art, and shared memory. It shapes how we see the world, how we act within it, how we belong. But today, culture itself is shifting. We are living through a time of accelerated change, rising authoritarianism, mass migration, social fragmentation, and rapid technological advances like AI. The foundations of how societies function, how we understand truth, identity, and community are being challenged.
Youth culture, in particular, is being reshaped at speed: algorithms and online worlds are fragmenting generations, and data shows a widening divide, with young men trending more right-leaning while young women lean left. What does this say about the future we are heading toward?
The arts have always helped us understand the times we are living through. Whether it's poetry, novels, art, cinema or any other medium, every time artists share their work they are telling us how they see the world in which we live. In an era where authoritarian voices grow louder and the normal channels of legitimate expression are under threat, art remains one of the most vital tools we have to question, to resist, to imagine.
At TEDxIbiza 2026, Thinking Cultura invites us to reclaim space for reflection. To think critically about the culture we inherit and the culture we are shaping, consciously or not. How can we protect spaces for creativity, questioning, and action? How do we build a thinking culture that resists manipulation, nurtures agency, and keeps humanity at the centre?
In Ibiza, a global crossroads, we’ll explore these questions together bringing diverse voices to reflect, provoke, and imagine new ways forward.
