Island Hospitality have been one of TEDxDaltVila’s founding partners and have continued with us through all three editions. Sofija speaks to us about her vision with Island Hospitality and why TEDxDaltVila resonated with her and her company’s visions from the very start.
You’ve been supporting TEDxDaltVila since its very first edition. What inspired you to get involved with the event from the beginning?
Sofija: From the very beginning, I saw TEDxDaltVila as a platform that could bring meaningful conversations to Ibiza—a place that has long been a melting pot of cultures, ideas, and creativity. I’ve always believed that hospitality is about more than just food and service; it’s about fostering a sense of community and connection. TEDxDaltVila’s commitment to sharing bold ideas and inspiring change resonated deeply with me, and supporting it felt like a natural extension of Island Hospitality’s values.
Island Hospitality, through Beachouse and Chinois, is TEDxDaltVila 2025’s main partner. What shared values or vision do you see between TEDxDaltVila and Island Hospitality?
Sofija: At Island Hospitality, we believe in creating spaces that bring people together—where conversations flow, ideas are exchanged, and creativity thrives. TEDxDaltVila embodies that same spirit of connection and innovation. Both of us are dedicated to celebrating culture, inspiring fresh perspectives and making a positive impact on the local community. Whether through culture, music or thought-provoking talks, we both aim to create experiences that leave people feeling inspired and enriched.
Supporting local culture and creativity has always been part of your philosophy. Why is it important for you—and for Island Hospitality—to invest in the Ibiza community?
Sofija: Ibiza has given so much to all of us—its beauty, its energy and its rich cultural heritage. For me, investing in the local community isn’t just a responsibility; it’s a privilege. By supporting local artists, chefs, musicians and thinkers, we help preserve the island’s unique identity while also allowing it to evolve in meaningful ways. Through Island Hospitality, we want to create opportunities for local talent to shine, whether it’s through our restaurants, collaborations, or events like TEDxDaltVila.
TEDxDaltVila is all about sharing bold, forward-thinking ideas. Looking back at past editions, which talk or idea has resonated with you the most—and why?
Sofija: There have been so many inspiring moments over the years, but one talk that really stood out to me was the one by Youri Post from Ibiza’s Can Cristofol regenerative farm. It challenged the way I think about our relationship with the soil and reinforced the idea that change starts with perspective. I love how TEDxDaltVila consistently brings voices to the stage that push boundaries and encourage us to rethink the world around us.
Do you believe TEDxDaltVila plays a meaningful role in strengthening the local community here in Ibiza? In what ways have you seen it bring people together?
Sofija: Absolutely. TEDxDaltVila has become a hub for intellectual and creative exchange on the island. It brings together people from different backgrounds—locals, expats, entrepreneurs, artists, and visionaries—who might not otherwise cross paths. I’ve seen firsthand how conversations sparked at TEDxDaltVila lead to new collaborations, businesses and friendships. It’s an event that unites people in a shared curiosity and passion for progress.
This year’s edition promises another inspiring lineup. Which talk are you most looking forward to?
Sofija: There are so many exciting speakers this year, but I’m particularly looking forward to hearing Bob Trafford from Forensic Architecture, whose work regarding human rights violations in conflict zones is unparalleled. It’s a subject that I feel deeply connected to, and I’m eager to hear fresh insights and perspectives. TEDxDaltVila always curates such a diverse lineup, so I know we’re in for another unforgettable edition!

Island Hospitality ha sido uno de los socios fundadores de TEDxDaltVila y nos ha acompañado durante las tres ediciones. Sofija comparte con nosotros su visión para Island Hospitality y explica por qué TEDxDaltVila conectó con ella y con los valores de su empresa desde el primer momento.
Has apoyado a TEDxDaltVila desde su primera edición. ¿Qué te inspiró a involucrarte con el evento desde el principio?
Sofija: Desde el primer momento vi a TEDxDaltVila como una plataforma capaz de traer conversaciones significativas a Ibiza, un lugar que siempre ha sido un intercambio de culturas, ideas y creatividad. Siempre he creído que la hostelería va mucho más allá de la comida y el servicio; se trata de fomentar un sentido de comunidad y conexión. El compromiso de TEDxDaltVila de compartir ideas audaces e inspirar cambios resonó profundamente conmigo, y apoyarlo me pareció una extensión natural de los valores de Island Hospitality.
Island Hospitality, a través de Beachouse y Chinois, es el colaborador principal de TEDxDaltVila 2025. ¿Qué valores o visión compartida percibes entre TEDxDaltVila e Island Hospitality?
Sofija: En Island Hospitality creemos en crear espacios que unan a las personas, donde fluyan conversaciones, se intercambien ideas y florezca la creatividad. TEDxDaltVila representa ese mismo espíritu de conexión e innovación. Ambos apostamos por celebrar la cultura, inspirar perspectivas nuevas y generar un impacto positivo en la comunidad local. Ya sea mediante la cultura, la música o charlas que inviten a reflexionar, buscamos crear experiencias que inspiren y enriquezcan a quienes las viven.
Apoyar la cultura y creatividad local siempre ha formado parte de tu filosofía. ¿Por qué es importante para ti —y para Island Hospitality— invertir en la comunidad de Ibiza?
Sofija: Ibiza nos ha dado mucho a todos: su belleza, su energía y su patrimonio cultural abundante. Para mí, invertir en la comunidad local no es solo una responsabilidad, es un privilegio. Al apoyar a artistas, chefs, músicos y pensadores locales, ayudamos a preservar la identidad única de la isla y a permitir que esta evolucione de maneras significativas. A través de Island Hospitality queremos brindar oportunidades para que el talento local brille, ya sea en nuestros restaurantes, colaboraciones o eventos como TEDxDaltVila.
TEDxDaltVila se caracteriza por compartir ideas audaces y visionarias. Pensando en las ediciones de los últimos años, ¿qué charla o idea te ha impactado más y por qué?
Sofija: Ha habido muchos momentos inspiradores a lo largo de los años, pero una charla que realmente me marcó fue la de Youri Post, de la finca regenerativa Can Cristofol en Ibiza. Esa charla cambió mi perspectiva sobre nuestra relación con la tierra y reforzó la idea de que el cambio empieza desde nuestra propia perspectiva. Me encanta cómo TEDxDaltVila siempre trae voces al escenario que rompen límites y nos invitan a replantear nuestra forma de ver el mundo.
¿Crees que TEDxDaltVila juega un papel significativo en fortalecer la comunidad local aquí en Ibiza? ¿De qué formas has visto el evento reúna a las personas?
Sofija: Absolutamente. TEDxDaltVila se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro para el intercambio intelectual y creativo en la isla. Une a personas de distintos orígenes: residentes locales, expatriados, emprendedores, artistas y visionarios que quizás no se cruzarían de otro modo. He visto cómo las conversaciones surgidas en TEDxDaltVila han llevado a nuevas colaboraciones, negocios y amistades. Es un evento que une a la gente en una curiosidad compartida y pasión por el progreso.
La edición de este año promete nuevamente una programación inspiradora. ¿Qué charla esperas con mayor ilusión?
Sofija: Hay muchos ponentes interesantes este año, pero tengo ganas de ver la charla de Bob Trafford de Forensic Architecture, cuyo trabajo sobre violaciones de derechos humanos en zonas de conflicto es incomparable. Es un tema con el que me siento profundamente conectado, y estoy deseando escuchar sus ideas y perspectivas frescas. TEDxDaltVila siempre prepara una programación tan diversa que estoy seguro de que viviremos otra edición inolvidable.
